Hi.

My name is Savar and i live in Iceland.

A friend of mine has a Nissan pickup D22 2004 with TD25TI engine that blew up last week.
Since these engines are nothing but a waste of space i want to put another engine in it.
Can i use another engine, like ZD30DDTI, with the gearbox that is in the car ? Or maybe the Nissan Terrano engine TD27TI ?
Or do i have to change the gearbox and transfer-case as well ?

Thanks for now.

g'Day Smason, jump into the intro section and say hello, you will get more responces.

What about the new 3.0l V6 inter-cooled that is available in the Navara lineup.
170kw. 550nm @ 1750 RPM....hmmm I want one

Are you sure the engine is a TD25 and not a YD25? YD25 is a good motor.

If it is a TD25 then a TD27 or QD32 will bolt up to the gearbox that is in the car now. Note that TD27 and QD32 factory turbo intercooled engines have electronically controlled injector pumps so will need the wiring looms and computers swapped in with the engine. TD27T non-intercooled and QD32 naturally aspirated motor (which actually has more power and torque than TD27 turbo) are mechanical diesels so no need for computers.

If you swap to a ZD30 use the Navara spec engine with it's wastegated turbo rather than the Patrol spec with VNT turbo. You will need to swap gearboxes, wiring and computer to fit a ZD30.

How is your supply of car parts over there? If you want a basic mechanical diesel with good horsepower you could combine a QD32 N/A motor, exhaust manifold from a TD27T, and the turbo off a ZD30 (Navara Spec). Injector pump will need a bigger plunger to supply the additional fuel requirement.
