Check engine light

Ok so coming home the trusty td started to make a slight mechanical rattling then the check engine light came on, checked everything and it was fine about 2k down the road it did the same thing, I’m at a loss as there is no smoke or anything, I did clean the air cleaner as it was fairly filthy but no change, it seems to happen when I get the intermittent rattly sound it’s fine until that happens. I have it booked in on Tuesday to scan it and find out hopefully what it is.

Don’t have a pressure gauge but it runs quiet then after about 1km it makes a slight chattering rattle the light comes on and then the rattle goes and comes again 🤷*♂️🤷*♂️

It will be something to do with the tcv on the injector pump. So could be the tps, the sensor on #1 injector or the timing control valve solenoid in the bottom of the injector pump. The rattle will likely be the engine as when this light is on it is likely the pump has gone to full advance which makes engine rattle more.

Thanks mate, it’s going in tomorrow to get the scanner on to see and hopefully fixed, it’s got a 12mm ufi pump

85078Well possibly found the problem, light no longer comes on but I think I may need to drop the tanks and I’ll check the filter again in a week or two or if the light comes on again, it’s really odd like white strips, maybe debris from the last refuel .

Ok so further checks we have tightened the contacts on the tcv and then discovered the alternator isn’t charging so that’s possibly upsetting the tcv as well so now it’s a 130amp alternator

So new alternator but the tcv is still playing up so waiting on ufi to get back to me as to when it can be fixed ☹️
Best they can do is the 23rd of March so looks like I ride the bike till then ho hum.

So it’s fixed turned out nissannewby was correct, it was the harness plug to the tcv faulty, none in Perth so Marty at United fuel injection took the one out of his race car and put in mine, top service and it’s running perfectly again.
