Have not posted for ages but have lurking to keep up to date.
A common problem with GU and GQ's is the brake lights staying on. Most often caused by the broken little plastic insert that the plunger of the switch on brake pedal hits when braking. Photo attached of old broken and new part.
Nissan in their wisdom want $38 for a replacement. Real cost would be a couple of cents.
However, it was my lucky day when I was advised the a Honda part was identical and only cost $5. Guess which one I purchased. My son had same problem on his GQ and now GU and put a small bolt in instead of the plastic replacement.
It took 30 seconds to fix with the new part.

Another quick/cheap way for it is to use any bumper/interior panels plastic clips, either in their original form or trimmed to be flat. Took a quick look at my plastic clips assortment here, and I think any of these could do the trick. This is what I will try later when I put my GQ back together.

By the way, happy new year! Just realized that its still the 31st for me but its probably already Jan/1st for the good folks in Australia!

Yes they would do exactly the same and probably last longer
