I'm sure I saw someone on here the other day saying they rebuilt their own power steer pump (it may have been the steering box - not sure?) using a kit they got off ebay. I've never done it myself, always either replaced with new or exchange.

have had a look and couldn't find much using the search function, so I posted up a thread, hoping to get some more 1st hand info.

is it noisybecause the fluid is low and the pump is cavitating, ie trying to pump air with the fluid?
GQ driving mech over the road suggested two things, tighten up all the hose clamps, as the hoses shrink, and use Lucas power steering stop leak type stuff. So I did. the Lucas stuff is heaps thicker than the Dexron II or whatever it is that normally keeps the steering happpy

I've got no leeks and there's no air in the system I think that it's just worn out it's 23 years old, so has anyone do a rebuild on theirs, and did you do it your self? if not how much and where did you get it from?
