Hi All

Have just brought 2004 GU IV Patrol when test drove had a belt noise. So they took in and fitted new belt. Next morning went to pick up and noise was back. They then fitted new complete tensioner (well looks to be new). All was well for about a week or so, then the sqeacking noise is back. Is more worse of a morning. If your out on the highway for awhile the noise goes away, till cools down again and is back. Have had the belt off and spun the pulleys and all seems ok for what i can see and feel.
Any other ideas would be great.

Welcome to the forum. It's always nice to post an introduction before asking questions.

What engine are we talking about?

Hey Leathal. Say G'day in introductions and tell us a bit about you and your ride. We're a friendly bunch around here and you can find all sorts of wonderful facts and info on a wide range of topics. Cheers, Rob

This sounds like the good 'ole days when I was running my HX V8 Kingswood. Had the same problem and did the same things to rectify it and couldnt work out what was causing the problem.

In the end my grandfather told me to take a cake of ordinary hand soap and lightly rub it to the underside of the belt while the motor was running and instantly the "Squeak" went away. It was just the surface of the belt and the pullies was making the squealing noise.

Sometimes its just the simple things that work.

Cheers,

Rob

Sorry about that i usually get ahead of my self.
Bit new to this stuff.
It has a ZD30. Had a bit more of a listen to it today and may be sounding more of a bearing sound possibly.

ZD30 tensioner pulley bearings are know to fail so have a close look at that one.
Other than that you could try using a short length of hose (about half a meter) as a stethoscope to locate the source of the noise but you need to be VERY careful.
