PLS HELP AC stopped working

2013 GU 3L CRD.

Air con was working great yesterday, no problem. Turned the Patrol last night. Started it this morning, no AC.

Fans work, AC light turns on when button depressed. I don't hear the compressor kick in when I push the AC button in however.

I'm thinking possibly a relay????

I've been mucking around trying to unplug the relay for 45 minutes and getting nowhere. Anyone know how to remove these relays???

I'm up in the NT and it;s bloody hot for us poor thin blooded snow white southerners.

I've looked around and can't see anything out of place or broken.

If it leaked all its' gas out. would it leave a stain/mark like a liquid would????

Oil would be visible if it was a substantial leak. If it is a tiny leak you might not see that. Have you checked the fuse?

Swap out the blue relays and see what happens. Is the revs dropping when the a/c is switched to on? Check all connections to the compressor aswell. You could have a slow leak in one of the lines and it just happened to drop below the pressure point for the a/c not to kick in. Get the a/c system tested if swapping out the relay doesn't work.

I wish i was up where you are right now. I'd so much rather heat that the crap we have to deal with down south.

Do the 3.0L CRD’s have a little glass type window somewhere on the A/C lines to inspect for air bubble fault finding like the old clacker engines/systems from last millennium do?

Is that what it was for? Last time I seen that was in my old HX Sandman.

Definitely still there on GQ’s & early I thought GU’s, will have to double check the shed queen 1999 been sitting for a while Old Mate [emoji106][emoji106]

Thanks for the help everyone. I can't work out how to get those bloody blue relays out. I gave up before I broke something.

The fuse is OK. There's no action from anything once the AC button is depressed.

I've noticed this leak which I'm wondering if it's an AC pipe???

It's on the passenger side and the oil started appereaing the same time the AC died.

Sorry about your troubles 10g.
Isn't the AC gas coloured? And doesn't it evaporate as soon as it meets oxygen? Not sure it would leak/pool up like in your photo. Someone correct me on this, but thats the way I understand it.
And also if it was leaking, I can't see how nothing would kick in, the AC clutch and/or the fan.

The AC system has oil mixed with the gas to lubricate internals of the compressor so you would see oil if the leak is large enough. The gas also can have a UV dye mixed with it if the system has been previously worked on and it had small leaks that were difficult to detect. You normally need a "black light" to see this dye. Also, normally there would be a sticker under the bonnet somewhere that indicated dye had been inserted.

Your best bet would be to try and trace the origin of the oil leak.

It's all sorted now. Thanks everyone for the help.

The AC guy said the oil is not from the AC. He tested the AC and said there doesn't appear to be any leaks. He said it was just low on gas and when that happens, there's a safety mechanism that won't allow the AC to turn on as there's insufficient gas/oil to lubricate the AC system.

He filled it up and everything came back to life.

It was a good learning experience. I can do elementary AC diagnosis now.
