I'm going to give this a go, hopefully better than the bit of pipe I'm currently using to sandwich between the doors

It looks like this eBay listing is packing up this tutorial from the Patrol4x4 forum.

All parts from Bunnings for about $30.

Another awesome mod pollenface Mate is the GU rear barn door aftermarket hinges. Can’t remember where we bought our family wagon ones from (maybe Patrolapart) but they allow the doors to open wider which makes life a breeze with boxes and the like [emoji106] [emoji106]

That hinge is actually just an extension bracket.
Currently on sale at Patrolapart ;)

This was the very first mod I did to my GU when I got it [emoji106][emoji106]

I’m really stretching my memory now Cremulator Mate [emoji23] Thinking I might have installed the gas strut awesome mod and hinge extension at the same time [emoji848]
Would installing the gas strut prior to an extension bracket later mod require a readjustment of the the strut once finally opened wider or do you think there’s enough extension left on the Ebay kits?

I haven't installed a gas strut on mine, but I'd say if you did the gas strut first, then fitted the extension bracket the strut extension would probably still work fine.

The instructions also say "Lift up strut so ball stud is touching the middle of the panel on the underside of the door. Make a mark 10 to 20mm towards the body of the car in the middle of the panel. (This is so the strut isn’t fully extended when door is open)"

So you'd have a bit of extension play if you followed that guide, and the extension hinge wouldn't add much more than 10mm I would think.

Definitely worth a craic Ash Mate [emoji106][emoji106]
May the meat pye 3.142 barn door rotation theorem for Y61’s keep our backs straight and safe and help edumacate all them poor old Y62 owners from banging their SUV pretty foreheads whilst snagging a brew out of their ARB fridges [emoji23]

pretty sure mine has already had the extension bracket because it opens as far as it does in pictures I've seen with the bracket fitted

You'll be able to tell if you look at the bracket on the small barn door. It will look a little longer than the ones on the passenger doors.
(And possibly a different colour)http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2021/08/195.jpg

I fitted the extension bracket, it made no difference to my 2008 gu, it was already at full openess :)
