First of all let me mention that the help that I get from this forum its better and quicker than the own dealler.

As some of you might know I am doing a project with a nissan GQ and this weekend that I look closer to what I need to do and buy what is missing I realise that there is a nipple coming out from my brake booster but no hose attached to it, I know its the vacuum pump and I also know that it goes into a vacuum tank and out into the alternator vacuum pump.

My question is can I connect the hose directly from the brake booster to the vacuum pump on the back of the alternator or do I need in fact the tank and depending on your answer can I use it from another car or truck or can I make my own or would it work just perfect but connecting it directly.

Might it fact I should ask what does the vacuum tanks does????

Thank you.

Fitting a vacuum tank is important, without it (vacuum pump connected directly to booster) you would loose power assistance to your brakes as soon as the engine stalls, you would only get one brake application with assistance. In an emergency the tank will give you several applications depending on the size of the tank.
Any vacuum tank will do, it's just a tank for holding nothing!!!
