Hello, I have just bought a 1997 GQ for my son, well looked after mechanically and 300K on odometer. We bought the car in Adelaide and drove back to QLD over the weekend. The run was great with no issues at all. After about 1200 km into the journey, we pulled away from a service station and i noticed a grinding noise in first gear circa 1500 rpm which stopped after 2000 rpm. This noise also happened in 2nd and 3rd gears as well but went away with acceleration.
A colleague of mine mentioned it may be a center bearing issue on the drive shaft. Before i start dismantling the driveline, has anyone else had this sort of problem? Any guidance or information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks - Macca 011
