No throttle

2002 gu 3.0 di has no throttle when in gear,
In neutral or Park has full throttle but bit slow to pick up any ideas ?

What happens when you manually select 1 or 2nd gear? Recently mine is sluggish off the mark, turns out the auto is not starting from 1st gear it starts off in 2nd.
