Hi guys, just got myself a GQ Patrol last week and slowly getting her up to scratch.
As the title really, I've done heaps of searching on forums but haven't really found what I'm looking for.
I'm after some pictures of where people have mounted their electric lift pumps under the chassis (I understand why I'm fitting one and I know how to wire it in, I just need ideas for locations).
Mine is fitted with a long range tank so there isn't much room to fit a pump right next to the tank, have people t'd into the steel lines down the chassis of just extended the rubber lines from the tank?
Any pics would be much appreciated!!!!!

On my GU it’s fitted above the rear lhs exhaust bracket behind the rear wheel.
I have it wired via a relay and the earth on the relay is connected to the oil pressure light switch so the pump will only run when there is oil pressure.
I’ve also made a bypass setup on it so if the pump fails, fuel can still be drawn from the tank without restriction.

Thanks mate! Did you plumb into the rubber tank lines?
Have you got any pictures of your setup?
Cheers

Hi mate, I have one in my GU with a Sub tank. I tapped into the fuel line on the chassis rail at the Sub Tank location and mounted it there. It is basically under the drivers seat. There is a chassis cross over tube at about that point too.
I took an Ignition power from the wiper motor on the drivers side and fused it to the lift pump.
You cant 'T' into the fuel line. it is an inline pump not a Tap. If you just T in then it is potentially going to fight itself as it is trying to pull in the same way it is pushing out. Cut the fuel line and take a section out then rubber fuel line in and out.

Thanks mate!!! Yeh sorry I meant to say pipe it in not ‘T’. Did you flare the steel line or just slip the runner over with a hose clamp? What pump did you use out of curiosity?

I have a lift pump on my GQ mounted down at the fuel tanks, mounted off the tube directly over the top of the rear diff. The lift pumps are better at pushing than sucking, so closer to the fuel tank the better for supply, however the original lift pump was located up on the fuel rail under the drivers seat and did the job, was well protected and more accessible than where it is located now. My tanks are set up so fuel is pumped from the aux. into the main on demand, then the fuel is drawn from the main by the lift pump to the IP. Allow for a filter before the lift pump also to protect it.

From here and a few post onwards. Not really detailed though. But yes I went straight from the main fuel tank.
