Went to the local hospital to see a dermatologist today, and checking in the receptionist confirmed my name, birth date, address, phone number, email address, then said “Your birth certificate indicates you were male at birth. Do you still identify as male?”

Anybody who knows me knows I’m a big fat bastard with a beard.

I said “I’m not answering such a stupid question.”

Where is this world heading, honestly? What would she have said if I asked to see a gynaecologist?

I’m at my local hospital to get my gallbladder removed and I had an “it” pushing my bed around[emoji2369]
Sounds pretty commonhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240909/417aa79fcaf0d3052d3052b50a5f332d.jpg

We in pretty much in the middle
Of nowhere with no mobile service. A balmy 30c outside, on our way from St.George in QLD heading toward Augathella where my daughter is.
So before it went we had massive vibrations I thought we had a flat, we pulled over, I got out and I could smell burning rubber, then bang she went.
I get my exhaust bag jack out, put it under the car. Start the car up, the jack is pumping up then bang! The exhaust bag pops! I get my second wind up jack out and that’s not working. No mobile service we had to wait until someone came past and asked for help. Bout half hour later a grey nomad stops to help. Fun day.

So we get into the next town, Mitchell. Drop into the only tyre service shop. Nothing. My tyre size, 305/70R16, nothing within a 600k radius.
In the end I am booked in tomorrow for a full set of Mickey T MTZ’s in 285/75R16’s. The current tyres are 7 years old. And on their last legs. This was to be their last trip, but not to be…
I wanted to go an AT this time but this is all I can get out here. Other than some no name brand AT’s I wasn’t willing to try.

Glad it burst while you were stopped and no-one got hurt. That could have been so much worse. Enjoy the rest of the trip.

Yeah every trip up here something has happened to the Patrol.
I’d done maybe 60thousand on these tyres. I think age was a factor though.
I’m not really sure to be honest why this happened. The roads up here are in really good shape, I was on bitumen, it was only 30c, just before it blew there was a strong smell of burning rubber. And when it blew I thought the tyre was going to burn as it was smoking up a fair bit.
So maybe the casing just fatigued and this caused extra heat build up or something.

Mateee! Some bad luck there Mark. But lucky you're all good. Is this your rear/driving tyre??
Could this have been tire spinning on the rim????
Didn't know such things existed until I seen it my self.
Driving Jamieson to Mansfield a workmate behinds me radios us that he smells burning rubber. I get worried as I'm in front of him, but soldier on. Once over the hills around the Mansfield airport he suddenly pulls over into the ditch. His rear tyre blew up, more so split rather than blew up. Long story short, because he didn't have a spare we went to the 4x4 shop in Mansfield.
He showed us instantly whats happened. The tyre track around the rim and the inner edges of the tyre its self were burnt/melted, smoothed out and smelt really burnt... Tyre compund hardens up as it ages. Once it gets solid enough it can, supposedly under torque on the rim, the rim can simply slip/spin on the inside of the tyre which heats everything up and boom!! That was my understanding of it.

Yeah i reckon your pretty much spot on with that analogy mate.

So i rang every tyre shop within a 1000k radius and not one had anything of my tyre size, 305/70R16. In the end i swapped all out for some 285/75R16 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT's. $1900 later I'm driving away with four new shoes.
