Hi Everyone
I have an ancient one that is still going strong.
It is a 1985 model with the SD33 turbo diesel. It is purely mechanical, even the fuel pump is mechanical.
Does anyone know if it is possible to source low range (crawler) gears for it?

Highly doubt it, but I’m usually wrong too :-(
Mark’s do Portal Axles that could be of interest? Reduction could possibly be MQ achieved planetary I think that’s how they work and super cheap too!
Jokes aside, an old school portal lifted MQ out there would be Legendary [emoji106][emoji106]

Thanks, but I guess portal axles would not be super cheap. I think I may be slow on the sarcasm there.
I suspect in terms of turning speed, portal axles would achieve the same as slower diff ratios. I.e. everything is slower, including highway speed, needing higher revs.

Yeah they’re definitely up there price wise, around $14,000 installed last I heard mate!
Correct you are, whatever ratio is chosen that’s it, highway and out bush 24/7.
Keen to see how you go with contacting ‘Marks’ for older model transfer gear sets, please do keep us posted mate[emoji106][emoji106]

Marks4wd says they do not have it and do not know of anyone who has manufactured crawler gears for the MQ generation.
Something that might be cheaper than portal axles would be to have a slower gear machined to fit the MQ transfer case...
This may be a silly question, but is there no way of mating a GQ Transfer case to an MQ box?
But then it may be more feasible to rather just use a GQ platform to begin with...
