Anyone got experience with this type of fuse?

I changed the whole assembly about 6 months ago after I noticed the housing had cracked.

Seems to have happened again in the new one I’ve put in.

Joint must run too hot. Fuse is ok, just housing melting.

Any experience/recommendations? I might try a different fuse type or else take into an auto elec as should be a simple fix.

Cheers

That type inline fuse is pretty ordinary at the best of times, but especially if it runs a close to it's maximum rating. Are there any accessories on that circuit?

I installed these on a 30 amp feed line to my intercooler pump - they got so hot the housing melted and deformed but the fuse stayed intact.https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/362821714325. I have since moved to this style and all good so far, wire sizes are correct and so are the connections, https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ANS-40-Amp-Fuse-Midi-Fuse-40-Amp-Fuse-Type-12-24V-Dual-Battery-Fuse-40A-x-4/401933755127?_https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Midi-Fuse-Kit-4-x-ANS-Holder-6-x-40-AMP-Fuses-Dual-Battery-Caravan-Terminal/293806619912?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item44683d3d08:g:~WcAAOSwfiJfcy3s:sc:AU_Expre ssDelivery!3180!AU!-1&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%252 Fn%252BzU5L90Z278x5ickkvjzWOStkxwnlDuxSI1PVVtUXU02 nkH5Na6s52ucPrLeWNUFtCI%252FPlN9GYQTL119xTv%252BU6 BbBZNgR5%252BZO%252FuTXyUX7qdsXPQnjlvGxrcUf0e4szXF 206gMS9cMTPMlI5R7%252BgXbfiNwZZZAQpppJFVlHkPtmrDV8 %252FX7iHtD8lodlwovV4FQzo3CQenTTPU11BukDr3r9BZA%25 2BvnJhudxkPPzudJYId7Pci0TONzbDLhJjcXGggmll1UZwEbKF NjAtvglfFLTPcbxw8KLTBzBajle7Bii6C8I%252F64T%252BHk cBAP7CJ4UW%252BAb2wbvgBvWLfM8j%252BQbhvHpNbUXfuh2f 81WNbg8hZCgVLggJo2Lrutv1avIS7Q5cRIIH83iudOypq58naF XuTfPky2O1dmNFmdGf0l%252F7uLX88Z324%252BG91%252FtF CqRpIpJ0Rr8hjePyayi92CfIM%252FOYrYzY5eFamRn2VBVz7c GpXWHm%252BTJrPcKxRjppgmLFj09J%252B%252BpOF02z0R3R tBKgYKXb0%252Fa3IE3NI32RTpdkGs60GZ%252BNCK18Dqr%25 2FsMdmPxTusaQEjjr8A%252B0cwBjWJfUzsc8DjADU4XhXW6TU ctJ6M2eN40y5UicsqY50wzNrQc4HcN8u8UKVyzTFh1YWKouKR% 252FCU0JJd36V8kIAeKjaKxhKrRPMKpCFMBAhCvI7%252BQC9N Q8cfeOx14tSYEkPjwBkNjJQJKZqo1lfo2GK1KwrJPi5J045trG xcpdpOyvajetEyj1te2kGYacBpEyW5QFs4NrCIfD3lo4JUZN%2 52BD7%252F4swigVA%253D%253D%7Ccksum%3A293806619912 3897a7e5ad964cbb92b5af27367ed626%7Campid%3APL_CLK% 7Cclp%3A2334524

Thanks mate.

Nah I’ve got a very simple set up.

It’s a new battery, had for a yr or so and alternator voltage has always been strong.

Light bar on front and that’s all.

Air con.

Although there maybe some loose currents as the wiring in the vehicle is a bit of a mess as was an auto converted to a manual and previous owner looks like they had a few accessories. Which I don’t run. I removed everything off the battery I was not gonna use when I bought it. I have seen a few wires which are covered with tape and not connected to anything. Haven’t traced them all back to remove yet.

My plan is to keep the wiring as simple as possible so I don’t have reliability issues. I just need the thing to run reliably for camping not using as a tourer yet.

Might just be the fuse type and running current. So should I try a different fuse type first ya reckon?

My dream is to label all fuse and wiring in the vehicle and ensure I know I have a replacement fuse etc for any issue. Might use this opportunity to do that...

Yeah, these handle 30amps constant, no problem at all

Ended up being the headlight circuit I think, runs through this 12V, 30A relay in the engine bay relay box - blue and red wire. From there looks like the wires from the relay run to front lights.

So I changed the fuse and will watch it.

Thanks
