Ok since cracking the rear right hand spring tower on my gu wagon, iv been thinking it may be because i didnt extend the bump stops enough when fitting the 4"lift.

Been looking at the 80 series bump stop convertion. Apparently is a progressing bump stop so even thought it looks like it will hit quickly it will start to slow down compression and give a smoother ride. Wanbk or Not?????

Anyone done this or wenmnt a different way??

PS, my frond bump stops are shagged and never extended them so looking top use the 80 series for the front aswell

Hi mate. nice addition but the rear Bump Stop has in no way contributed to the Spring Tower tear. Sorry. It is simply a bad design by Nissan and a very very common problem with Heavy Touring Patrols. If you are going to fit the Boss Tower kit the it uses those 2 Bump Stop bolts to Install and if you wanted to fit the 80 Bumps at the same time it would make sense. The Bump extension is used to limit the compression so you dont bottom out your longer shock and blow a seal. it is a Stop and not part of the suspension.

Both my GQ and my GUIV have torn the spring towers and both have a brace kit installed.

Darren above is correct, a major flaw in Mr Nissan’s design and we absolutely do need safe rear aftermarket tower bracing if planning on using our coily trucks for anything more than a local shopping cart.
I’m running a 2” lift on 35’s in my GU coily ‘Superior’ brand braced ute (‘Boss’ are great for wagons too) and have the Toyoda bump stops JFF45 kindly pictured above.
Plenty of down travel and the bump stops are very tough found but I did have to customise the inner top stop plates closer to the Nissan chassis.
My coil replacement’On-Air’ bellows were ever so slightly touching these plates on serious off camber tracks but it may not be an issue with your coil/inner air bags setup?
