hey guys, greetings from exmouth!--well the big girl didnt miss a beat coming up here, she was loaded with a camper trailer that weighs in at app 650-700kgs and a pay load on tray of app 500kgs.add to that 2 full tanks of diesel and she has some mass.my economy at the moment is aprox 14-15 ltrs per 100,not too bad i reckon--i have been driving in 5th on the flat flat bits aswell.i did notice when i got here the pcv hose had been left off(i could smell a slight oily smell)---would this cause the engine to use more diesel?--i not really sure if it would make any difference???--anyhow seen plenty of nice patrols around here--will put some pics up when back in a couple of weeks!!!!:harhar:

No it wouldn't affect fuel consumption. Is your engine naturally aspirated or factory turbo?

Actually having the breather off would be better for the engine especially if it's turboed. No oil gunking up your compressor & helping to slow the spool rate.

One problem with that idea and the reason I asked if he had a factory turbo - on factory turbo TD42 the PCV pickup point is post air filter so the engine would be drawing in unfiltered air.

On N/A TD42 with standard air filter the PCV pickup point is pre-filter so it wouldn't be an issue.

Yes good point tony, I have my PCV inlet blanked off, I put it in the same place as your pic when I made up the intake pipe work for the turbo. need to get around to making a catch can & new inlet pipe minus PCV inlet. Sorry for the bum steer was thinking of my own set up where it's been blanked off.
