old for new

I have a 99-00 2.8 liter with the electronic fuel pump and want to change it for the old all mechanical type. The car has manual transmission. I havn't done much research on the matter. anyone done this and has some pointers

Welcome to the forum, it's always nice to post an introduction before asking questions.

I have not heard of anyone doing this before but I don't see why it couldn't be done using parts from an earlier model engine.
I don't know about other countries but in Australia at least this would be illegal due to emmission regulations.
