Aircon switch removal in a 2005 GU Patrol

My first post, so . . . be polite.,

The A/C does not work. Fuse is fine. I want to check the button switch on the A/C control panel. There is power to the switch (though light doesn't work) when engine is running and fan are on. I can't work out how to get the switch itself out of the panel in which it's fixed. Button is off and connector too, but I'm stuck with the switch body.
Who's done this and knows please?

Thanks for that - most useful. I'm used to VWs but my son bought a Patrol recently and so I've been spending a lot of time learning to manipulate my fingers in a Japanese rather than a German way. I appreciate the reply.

Check the relay in the relay box. if theres no click from that the relay could be buggered. Swap it out for another relay of the same type in the vehicle. Which there should be.

I was getting to the relay but thought I
'd short out the pressure switch in the drier. BINGO, there's the problem. The system worked - though no cold air. Suggested to me that the thing needs a gas recharge (at least) though I had checked there is good pressure (or so it appeared to a novice) in the system.
Plugged the connector back into the drier connection and Hey Presto, the system behaves the way it should when A/C is turned on - though without cold air. This puts this particular issue out of my league and a visit to someone to look at the need for a recharge is in order.
The "socket" in the drier faces upwards and was dirty inside from water having found its way in. I cleaned contacts as best I could and now it's someone else's job.
Back to reassembling some of the sub-atomic particles I have released from the dash.

I think I do remember an a/c chap saying if the gas is low the a/c won't turn on. Eltham is good. Still bushy, lots of tree huggers and way to many push bike riders. Lol.

Yeah the pressure switch on the Dryer will not let the system function if there is no gas pressure. If you hot wired that pressure switch and the sytem works then you are out of gas. Take it in to have pressure checked and leak checked. Might need to run a die through the system to find the leak.

THanks MudRunner . . . That's the conclusion I have come to but it's not up to me to go to the A/C folk. There SOME pressure in the system though I have no suitable instrument to check it.
