Just been told by my mechanic that my exhaust may not pass it's next warrant of fitness. I got carried away one day when hitting some tracks and snapped the tail pipe off. Since I'll end up replacing it anyway I would like some thoughts on what to do. It's a td42 diesel gq. although the engine makes a bit of noise I'm after a bit of rumble from the exhaust. Will I get this from a new muffler or should I be looking at a whole new performance exhaust system? Haven't got the money to spend big (saving for the lift) so what would be the most effective way of achieving some extra rumble and power/economy?

thanks
Brett

Most definitely the 3" system, check ebay for some good deals, should be able to get the whole system for anywhere between $550 and $750 for the GQ depending on what size pipe and whether its stainless or mild steel

Can't find anything on ebay??? searching patrol exhaust, gq exhaust. One question though, since I don't have a turbo is the 3" straight through system still very effective?

I'm in the same boat mate (non turbo) and I think 3" is an overkill for non turbo and 2 1/2" is about right but I want to get turbo later on and will need 3" so we'll keep an eye on this and see what everyone says....

Great, thanks mate. I was just under the impression that a 3" exhaust on non turbo would have been too much but thats good to hear!
