Hi all,

Have a quick question about my aircon. 2009 ST 3.0. Aircon was working great then next time I went to use it, it was only blowing hot air. Figured it must have a gas leak so took it to a local re-gasser for a fill up.

Was out the back for 2 minutes before being driven out the front by the boss. “I’ll show you the problem” he says. Seems his “Nissan Expert” out the back says one of the pipes is attached to a non Nissan bracket which has damaged the pipe and they can’t help me.

The bracket in question is on the top left hand side of the motor and has a small clip that attaches to the pipe. A bit of googling found that this was in fact a genuine Nissan part and on closer inspection the pipe seems ok.

Main issue I’ve noticed is that it seems that the compressor doesn’t switch on when the aircon is started. Is this normal if it’s out of gas or do I have a connection/fuse/relay issue? I’ve checked fuses and they are all ok.

Any suggestions would be appreciated before I take it to a professional. Sorry for the long story for a quick question.

I'm pretty sure they have some kind of low pressure cut out. So if there's no gas the compressor won't run. Maybe find another aircon expert for a second opinion.. Sounds like the first guy wasn't interested in your money. I mean, you didn't ask them if it was a genuine bracket.. You asked them to fix it.

could also be a u/s clutch (or wiring to clutch) on the compressor (its not engaging to drive compressor), That aside if they put their gauges on it, it will quickly tell you if you are out of gas (leak generally)

most a/c gas has dye in them these days (i hope) & if there is a leak its easily found, sounds like they weren't interested, would go elsewhere
