The final end goal of the SVOCamper project is to run a self-contained campervan without the use of petroleum or its derivatives.

This means straight vegetable oil and solar.

Currently, the idea is to combine a Patrol GU TD42 ute with a slide-on camper, then convert the ute to run on SVO.

Although a Land Cruiser with 1HZ engine would also be a decent choice, as would a cabover-engine truck with suitable engine, I decided to go with the TD42 ute platform. In the short-term, the relatively widespread availability of TD42 utes in Australia, and the sheer speed at which the project can come together with a slide-on camper, means I can learn and/or fail fast.

It strikes me as particularly important to demonstrate to the world that vehicles can run sustainably without the use of petroleum, and the TD42 ute is the first step in making this happen.

Welcome aboard mate!
More than appreciate your top efforts to come no doubt!
The TD42 engine and its variants are replacement wise extremely expensive due to the fact I personally believe that they can achieve over 1,000,000kms if well looked after.
Honestly not too sure how faithfully long their steel would last on vegetable oils and have concerns of how many new farms would need to be created to assist fueling bigger work donks truly needed across larger continents like Australia!
