gu 2.8 engine transplant

Does anyone no if there is any other diesel engine that will slip straight in to replace the original 2.8ltr turbo diesel with minimum effort mine has just died and a good replacement is hard to find

i am FARRRRRR from being a guru, but if there was a "slip straight in" replacement for the 2.8 then many,many 2.8 owners would of taken that option. Either bite the bullet and swap for a 4.2 with the driveline changes needed.....or bite a bigger bullet and go the chev conversion with the big bucks accossiated with it.
spend some and rebuild the 2.8.....or spend more and upgrade.

No expert either but no diesel option that slips straight in that I have heard of, but the skyline petrol engine option has been tried with varying successes before
This still requires lots of work (flywheel, clutch, computer, fuel related, etc)
