How to tell if an Auto Convertor is any good???

Hey Guys and Gals me again, as the title says how can I tell if the convertor is ok???, Im basically forced to put the convertor from a no good box into the second hand box i got. First and second gear were perfect with the old convertor but the box wouldnt change to third or OD so does that suggest the convertor is ok???

Well you know my views on this but I know about having to watch the wallet so first thing is: what was the fluid like from your old box? Darkish or nice bright red?

By rolling the converter around in your hands, try & empty some fluid from the converter & check it for contamination (also check your box fluid for this as well.

Thanks Patch i'll check it tomorrow and see but from memory the oil on the dipstick was a nice red so fingers crossed.
