Hi Guys, New to the forum, cheers for having me.

Been lurking around the last couple of weeks getting information together for a TB45 to TD42T conversion,:Yahoo!: 2000 GU AUTO.
My question is, can you run the Factory TB45 Auto Trans with the TD42 by using the TB45 TPS on the TD42 Pump, or are you better to splice into the TD42 TPS?
If this is possible what else do you need to run the TB45 Auto Trans as Factory? (Not the Mechanical stuff)
I’ve’ read a few post on the conversion, and would love to hear form some who has actually done this and ran the Factory Auto.

Cheers!!!!!!!

I’m running my original TB45E auto trans behind a factory TD42T. I initially adapted a ZD30 TPS with the accelerator pedal but later added a TD42Ti TPS (3 wire) to the pump itself so I could use the factory cruise control.
I kept the ZD30 TPS on the pedal but only for the idle/WOT signal for the TCU.

You need to keep the ECU and TCU connected or it goes into limp mode.
Mine has been running well since 2015.

Perfect, that's exactly the information I was after. Thanks. My pump has a 6 wire TPS on it. I got it from an unknown source.

It’s a reasonably simple task to match the TD42T 6 wire TPS to the TB45E wiring.

Hi jff45 I've been following your posts and mytqik's posts on various forums as I'm doing basically the same conversion (1999 GU TB45 with Auto to TD42). My TD was originally NA with a 10mm pump but I'm having it upgrade to 11mm BC to suit a turbo, and I'm wondering how easy it was to get a hold of a TD42Ti TPS and attach/adapt it to the pump?

Absolutely loved your big post about your build, really great detail for a newbie like me.

Cheers, Mark.

Mark, my TD42T engine was from an auto Safari so it had the TPS on the 11 mm pump from factory. As you saw in my build thread, I initially adapted a ZD30 TPS on the pedal because my 6 wire TPS was damaged. I later mounted a 3 wire TD42Ti TPS on the pump because the ZD unit on the pedal couldn't work with my TB45 cruise control which pulled the cable on the pump.

I exchanged my 11mm for a 200 HP 11mm and the pump builder had a few TD42Ti TPS modules from pumps he had modified to full mechanical.
It's very easy to adapt to a standard 11mm pump if you get/make the mounting bracket and extension nut with plastic joiner. If you use the TD42Ti TPS, you'll still need to somehow create the idle/WOT switch unless you use an aftermarket trans controller.
I might have some bits in the shed somewhere but it's been a while.
Where are you located?
