GQ headlight upgrade wiring

Hey guys, I've looked around the forum for any answers and haven't found any. I'm wondering if you run your new wiring from the globes all the way back to the combination switch ? I've seen a diagram that shows a circuit breaker running to a relay then to the light fitting, but it didn't show where to connect incar. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Use the existing wireing to run a relay is the easiest.

So run a (fused) wire direct from battery to a relay, relay direct to headlight. Then use the existing headlight plug to fire the relay.

You can either run two relays, one each for high and low beam or there are single relays designed for purpose available.

There are kits you can buy IPF and Piranah do one but if you have the know how would be cheaper I imagine to do it yourself. From memory think i paid around $300 for IPF one in mine, it has two relays which are different on side note and had us stumped for a while why the low beams won't working lol. .

I have moved the low beam circuit breaker to one side, after the relay and added one to the other so that I should still have on light in case of a failure.

I over did it with a heavier gauge wire than necessary but it has made a real difference in the brightness of the standard globes. It will deliver a better voltage if I upgrade to halogens too.

Did mine like yours mudnut but decided the two relay system just seems a bit messy. Found this and looks like it should do the job nicely if I ever get around to fitting it.

That is a nice looking unit. I used a water proof junction box that was just large enough to fit the high and low relays and three auto circuit breakers.
