Hi all.
I wonder if someone knows a rugged, weatherproof build, battery powered crr/led work light with switch, to clamp to the side of my roof rack.
Need a light in the back to set up camp etc, without the hassles of getting power to the roof or spending to much for a spare tyre mount light'(s).

What about the Ryobi One+ 18v lights?
They have string lights, work light and folding shop light which might work for what you need.

I have the shop light and it has a bright throw.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2019/07/323.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2019/07/324.jpg78938

More like metal body , so it can stay connected to roof rack. Battery driven, with a clamp for easy installation and somehow a build in switch.
Like this one but not 12v driven..

No. But you could make a lead light out of something like that but really any 18v system will have a light for you if you want it. Coupled with other tools like blower. Chain saw. Drill etc it's a better choice.
Or wire up roof lights like most people do.

Lol wire lights? The thought of getting power to the roof unsettles me.

wiring in a set of lights is easy these days. I had a light bar fitted and it had a wiring harness in the box that went straight to my spare powersupply in the fuse box. You can buy other kits with inline fuses and connect straight to the battery and come complete with switches .. not that I'm an advocate for certain 4x4 and camping retailers but the one that rhymes with "wings" and is the opposite of "Queens" .. have a couple of roof rack mounted LED lights and also have a wiring harness for them ... dunno the quality but might be worth a look ..

What about a custom adapter base for a power tool battery? Something like this DIY Milwaukee 18v DIY Project Battery Adapter/base?

There are various different types of these adapters that also adapt between different makes of power tools/batteries.
You could either mount the adapter hard wired to the light on the roof rack, or have the adapter connect to the light with anderson powerpole connectors, so you connect it with the battery when you want to use the lights.
That way you are using a rechargeable battery for your lights when you go camping that you can also use with your power tools, rather than just a rechargeable battery that you have got specifically just to run your camping lights.
