I have a strange and probably stupid question for you.
Today I was changing the generator and right next to it I found a soft rubber-type pillow just lying just below the generator, but light ... it is easily squeezed.
Tell me, please, what it is and where to install it.

It may from the underside of that cover the part in question is sitting on. Throw it out.

There's a bunch of that squishy black stuff jammed in around where the transmission belhousing meets the engine on mine. I don't know what the purpose of it is except to catch all the oil that used to leak out of my rear main.
