Hi All,

I am slowly getting to know the Patrol and am loving the plushness of it.

In exploring and poking at bits I have noticed the front hubs are turned to "lock" which normally does not present a question as I think it is fairly self explanatory, however, they have tippex white line markings on them which raises an eyebrow from me...any ideas on why someone would mark them up and is there a way of knowing (aside from the red arrows lining up with lock or auto) which mode they are in?

An unrelated annoyance seems like nothing major, I get a small clunk/knocking noise at times from the rear right that sounds initially like a spring settling/creaking and other times I wonder if it is the fuel sloshing around that I hear, happens mostly when I first set off after being parked and I can sometimes get it to do it when I simply rock the car back and forth but rarely. Initial inspection shows nothing to be loose, worn or obviously to blame...open to suggestions before jacking her up?

Thanks guys and have a cracking weekend:)

Could definitely just be the spring moving a little bit, I get that on front right on the slightest flex or even just cornering sometimes.

when the hubs are locked in the steering feels heavier , unlock them and see how it feels . as for the noise check your exhaust , it may be knocking against something , the noise can transfer thru the chassis and sound as if it is coming from the other end of the car.

as for the white markings , it just maybe that the previous owner had eyesight issues , perhaps colour blindness , and found it easier to see white markings rather than red.

Oh yes, good ideas! Thanks mate. I'll get out there and have a poke around again today :)

Check the condition of your sway bar mounts. I have an annoying clicking sound intermittently and found the ball joints were rooted. Plenty of aftermarket ones out there to choose from, if the assy slops around in your handle, this might be a cause also.

I have had a look and also annoyingly found the electric sway bay has been replaced with a "normal" one. No electric disconnect for me! Booooo.
