Yeah was built as a comp truck raced it once at Vic Winch this year then sold it to me :)

Well last 2 days the Mav has been other steamy at its ass end seems it was sucking in my radiator water and spiting it out the exhaust

So had chat with couple people that all told me the same thing might be a crack in gasket.

So tonight ive ripped the head off only to see that the gasket at front of motor was all fu*ked and cracked looked to be leaking water into exhaust port one.

Well its is all back together now with a fresh headgasket old one was crack in like 3 spots all new water ports

Just took it for a test run all seems good got home stopped in drive way and there is no Water or Steam coming from the exhaust.

Woooooop and was my first headgasket ive ever done

gives me a extra 40lts of fuel for longer trips

Well my Hi Mount arrived today thank god i only payed $700 for it.

In side was full to the top with Shity milky water with like mud stuck on bottom of casing :shock:
The Free fool Leaver is Broken so will need new one of them
Anyone no where i can get one from?

Over all the rest is in good nick.
Its going to Flamin Fab in next week to have it Over halled get the brake bolted, Fill and drain plugs and Cross bracing at the back of the winch.

Well my hi mount is off to Flamin Fab on Friday.
Was looking at it today thinking it needs a good clean up before i drop it off

So got out the wire wheel out 1000grit wet n dry sand paper and this is the result

Nice work mate, if you want that gear box to come up shinier then hit it with some Autosol on a lambs wool car buff. By the look of the pics it would come up a treat.

Well in the arvo today got bored and though i make a swing over arm that locks my Jerry's in place.

And come up with this..! It swings over to other side and lines up with a 2 washes one on jerry holder one on arm and padlock them together.

And sold the daul subs out of the back put the single 12inch sub in i got off Cam in and put a frige on the side of the sub.

so i can put the smurf in my name instead of my mates

Well had a trip up to Mt skene on the weekend to see if there was much snow left.
And yup there was heaps...! We didnt make it to the Sumit snow was just to deep and thick. We were about 300mts from the top so turned around and camped in the snow just down alittle bit.

Well this arvo i looked in to bolting up my Tow bar to smurf witch i couldnt has all the Captive Nuts were gone so
wasnt able to bolt the standand tow bar up.

So i cut the Hit off the bar and welded it to my rear bar with some cross bracing
I wont be towing and heavy with it mainly there so i can tow just standand 6x4 tailer to tip with rubish or motor bike tailer to the bush
to go riding.

Well driving to Dandy the rear diff in smurf decided it would GO BANG so was total care tow home.
It looked that it had been wearing for a very very long time and fact that was only about 900mm of oil in the the diff :shock: :shock:

Removed all axles and center to see chucks bigger then my thumb off the pinion.

Was about 5 of these size chunks that fell out on removal

Well was thinking last week my bonnet flaps around in the wind pretty bad as the bonnet stops where farked and didn't do there job anymore.

So was looking around for new set and come to the conclusion it was cheaper to buy Bonnet pins at only 16bucks for a set.

So now my bonnet held shut by bonnet pins and the standard bonnet lock :)

Out side lights are 5inch and middle ones are 6inch

These are 130w white light globs so be nice and bright but will be HIDing them soon.

Well the Smurf has got a full Alarm/immobiliser system in it now with 4 door central locking and built in shock sensor so even the soft hit of my car alarm go's off
so no prick is stealing this truck from me

Well little update


Smurf now running 4.6s with fully rebuilt n Shimmed LSD
Roof lights have been removed n mounted on to the front bar as i got sick of hitting low tree branches with them.
All 4 lights have 55w 4300k HIDS in them aswell

Well couple weeks ago went on a trip up bush for 5 days and it end up being a short one with my clutch sticking on on day to to got smurf trailed home and removed gear box
to see that everything on inside was rusted and stuffed

So bought all new seals bearing a new exedy tuff clutch half button for some added piece of mind

Well after the floods that ran though vic on the 4th feb and drive though bonnet deep water aswell as having to pull people that had no brains and tryed to drive the water. I had found out smurfs floor wasnt very water tight was holes here there everywhere on the floor all rubber bungs didnt seal 100%


So yester day i spend the hole day washing the inside of the floor out with a hose (Gotta love no carpet) i can now see the white flood
and also found all the little holes and rubber bungs that were leaking

So my best mate STICKERFLEX come out and i filled very dam hole up and sealed up the rubber bungs even ones that didnt no doing
and why i was at it i removed unused wiring that went to back of the car and tidied up the rest of the wiring only wiring thatcan be seen now is the engines kill switch
only becuase it like inch thick :)

Well today i thought it was time to color match the bonnet to the rest of the car as the black bonnet was becoming very annoying


Step 1 sand the bonnet back with 320 wet n dry paper

Step 2 put 4 coats of black ech primer on

Step 3 wait 4hrs for primer to dry and lay down 3 coats of top coat

And the final step tomorrow after bonnet had over night and tomorrow to dry bolt it back on and give it cut n polish to move the gay bugs that landed on it

Mate have you just got 4" susp lift or body lift as well and do those 37's scrub lots on inner guards or not too bad?

Body lift is GAY never use the it.
i got 3inch lift that sits about 2.5inch now and running 37s tyres dont rub at all not running the 4inch lift anymore keep it low on big tyres

Well not much has changed to Smurf atm just in the middle of getting a RWC.

So been replacing heaps of stuff before it go's into the shop.

Its got new:
Panhard bushes front n rear
New Tie Rode ends on steering arm
New steering damper
New windscreen
New standard seat belts
Fitted factory sun visers
New Brake pads on all 4 corners

And the oil sensor sh!t it self so it was cheaper to buy a aftermarket oil gauge then it was to buy a new factory oil sensor

And also dug up the factory panhard bracket that come off my shorty gave it a clean up and will bolt that on when i get a GU steering box

Well smurf is booked in for its Rwc next Tuesday so cant wait to get that out of the way.

But today i removed front Panhard rode and installed the factory nissan panhard bracket.
Tomorrow im getting new bushes pushed into panhard rode and will fit it back up old bushes are beyond farked.

Well got bored last night and thought i need a reverse light but normal flood lights aren't all the bright n the LED ones are to pricey.

So having a couple of spare HID spotties laying around i thought why not HID a standard flood light from Super Crap auto witch i already had cost me a huge sum of 25 bucks.

Was dark n have poor light in the shed so didn't get any pic's of modding the light to suit the HID globe but wasn't hard just had to file hole out n make a spacer as globe was about 3mm to long.

Made a bracket to mount the ballast there

pretty good spot for it ive got mine on an original bumper bolt drivers side works well for tailgaters i have mine duel wiring so it is leagal because by law it must be wired so it only comes on while the vehicle is in reverse withn ignition on i have that and also idependantly with a seperate switch for tailgaters and keeping followers in line lol

Yeah how mine is wired in mine wired off the reverse light wiring into a relay.
And then another wire that's constant power to the relay on a switch on the dash so it can be turned on when setting up camp at night.

yep as long as it is wired through the reverse lamps the cops cant do anything as long as they dont find the independant switch

Bought one of these to help me with me inflate my tyres out bush and to help my Air Lockers when the come later this yeah.

Got home from work early today so thought i would mount the ARB compressor.

Couldnt work out where to put it i everyone mounts them under the seat but i wanted it up off the ground out of harms way if i ever flood the car.

So mounted it to the cage was using a gasless mig at mates so the welds are poo so i gave up trying to weld it so i just did single tac's all the way along it

Hoping to have a front locker buy end of July.

Good work mate - they mounted mine under the seat, but upside down on the seat rail which keeps it about 3" off the floor - if it gets drowned, I've got bigger problems to worry about!!

Well bought my self a 10lt Air tank witch is now connected to my ARB compressor witch works a treat takes about 1min to fill the tank
up and pumps up one 37inch tyre from 15psi to 40psi very easy atm my pressure witch i have cuts off at 100psi will get the 130psi switch from ARB next week.

Also got my Regulator all set up off tank ready to run a air line to my dizzy so i can pressurize it up so no water problems when hitting water hard.
Will be running 8psi in my dizzy seems to be perfect amount for it on GQ's

Well got my UHF airel and 2 of my HID spotties on finally unsure if im putting my other 2 spotties on or not atm.
If they do get put on they will be going beside the middle hope bolted to the side wingsnext to headlights.

The Screen is mounted with the factory mounting bracket it come with flat to the dash beside jesus bar witch holds it there in its place put will come loose.
The screen it self has a 10mm bolt hole in middle letting you to bolt off it so i made little bracket up screwed it to dash on the metal n bolted to screen holding it nice n tight.

Well swapped out my normal GQ diff today for a Braced up one was fully braced when i got it all i did was weld 6mm thick washes around radius arm bolt holes to stop the holes stretching out n giving me death wobbles.

Well im setting up my truck for high country trip over X mas holidays ive bought a 72lt belly tank to go in giving me 200lts of fuel ive also got a 40lt water tank coming aswell.

Well after long thoughts were had i decided to turn my top spotties upside down in my middle hoop of my bar. I originally thought the left light wouldn't fit to to hitting my hi mount but it fits in there by about 3mm.

Main reason for turning my light's up side was now that im running rope i thought id weld on some winch horns on the top of my bar but lights were n the way but not now.

Well i just got back from spending 7 days up in the high country swept accross the victorian high country from licola to wonangatta station, eaglevale, the pinnacles, dargo, crooked river, shady place etc which totaled was approx 1000km return trip.

Well did atrip to Walhalla and Macalister Gorge for Easter 2012 from Fri-Tues
Started looking for places to camp at O'tooles and onwards passed Goonans hut and landed at Store point. The whole area was loaded full of people with most struggling to find a good camp site.
We did a few day trips to white star mine, mt selma, mt useful, army tk to deep creek tk's etc.
Monday we decided to shift camp to Macalister Gorge and where fortunate enough to get the well built hut by "WHERETHEFU#KAREWE4X4" and enjoyed it's facilities and surroundings.

Well after the 6 days i spent away for easter i noticed my motor was slowly drying lack of power using lots of oil n getting hot n becoming very hard to start.

So picked up a new motor thats rebuilt all but the block as it seemed to be in good order.

So today out come the old motor

And tomorrow ill be spending it cleaning up the engine bay of rust unused wiring waiting for my flywheel to retune as its getting machined.

The new motor will have the following added to it

Rebuilt Dizzy with Ice Ignition
Rebuilt Carby
3 core Ally Radiator
Twin Alternators.

Thinking of knocking up some sliders and a rear bar but not sure of what to use and what will hold up with a cars weight on it.

Aka theres plate welded to chassis with tread in it

The trip involved Sheepyard > Pikes > Bluff > King Billy > Bindaree > Kings Hut > Razorback Hut etc we did one big loop around mt buller and not entirely by choice lots of trees down.

Well gave my old draws a make over

By addeding side cubbeds on each side one for recovery gear one for spears ect ect
Then put Carpet over them come up ok for someone that cant carpet for crap lol

Mounted new LED Mag light down back for using in back Shover holders for shove n bolted a tool box to draws to hole all me tools.

Well alot of things have been going on with my rig

End of July car rolled off on its own down a hill n wedged its self between 2 tree's

Punching drives door n guard and snapping everthing under its front end and totaling smashing the shit out of drivesand passenger floor pan

All this happened on Saturday around 2ish so i 2nded up spending the night out bush on my own in zero temp in the snow as everyone else went home to get recover cars n a trailer to tow it home

Well the Rebuild/Repair has started on smurf


First up was getting it back on its wheels witch following was needed

New Front diff
New Front radius arms
New Radius Mushroom bushes
New Drag Link
New Tie Rod
New Panhard Rod
New Brake Line
And New Shocks n Coils witch in thise case i bought hole new lift kit as old kits had seen better days.

Once it was on its wheels i washed it as couldnt wash it in the shed

Now its clean ive started reparing the Floors n front of the body under front guards we all GQs are weak as shit under there n ive had cracks there for while.

Then got front end back together so i could get it out n wash it

Then repaired passenger side footwell as it was easy one to fix
Just had to beat it back into shape then i plated over hole 2.5mm thick plate

Well started repairing all the cracks at front of the body as we all no GQ front ends are weak as hell up front.

First off i plated over the hole that was cut for the snokel n shit job at that :shock: was cracking all the way around it :roll:

So i thought why not plate the hole and put the snorkel though the bonnet as ive always like style. 8)

Well front left is all finished n painted i welded a total of 20 cracks on that one side :shock:

Well took smurf to a Mates Mate Custom Hot Rod shop Friday arvo so he could repair drives floor

At first we thought we cut floor out n put new section in but once car was there he was like id be able to get that floor back to shape with Ozy n Hammer n body shaping tools

So its all done all Cracks n Holes where closed up n welded up we didnt had any new plate at all

All i gotta do now is wire wheel the floor had seemfiller where its now done n paint floor so i can get back to cleaning up body for respray.

Well smurf come hom in morning so was able to hit it with wire wheel n coat it with loads of Sound Deadener on inside and Body Deadener on out side.

With that done i started sanding body back for its fresh paint to go down but die to me starting a new job tomorrow witch takes me away on for work i wont be doing much more on it till weekend witch sucks but working part of life.
