View Full Version : What is Standard Ride Height?

Guys,

Trying to work out to what extent the GU3 I've just bought has been lifted.

The vehicle was chopped by Dekkers in SA and a box was built by Wilmax, also in SA to slide on the back. The rear suspension was replaced with airbag only and when the box is on, runs at roughly 50psi, maybe a little more and when I dump the suspension to take the box off, I'm trying to work out where the pressure should sit to attain correct ride height. 40psi FEELS right but there must be a no brainer way to check this.

Any ideas or help is muchly appreciated!

IMHO it should sit fairly level regardless of the load it is carrying. I would adjust pressure accordingly.

Just thought there might be a benchmark measurement at a certain point on the vehicle that might be a starting point. Given the vehicle has also been lifted as well, not sure how much exactly, I'm also trying to ascertain if the incorrect ride height will affect things like the caster which would directly affect when the death wobbles occur or not. The wobbles dont seem to be taking hold at this point but I dont really know much about the vehicles history either. Still feeling things out at this point.

I'm not 100% sure, but when I was researching factory ride height when I bought my 2004 GU III I have these numbers noted down from patrol 4x4.com;
Front: 555mm from centre of hub to underside of flare
Rear: 560mm from centre of hub to underside of flare
The measurements I took from mine were:
FL 536mm, FR 541mm, RL 556mm, RR 561mm

Yeah that's great guys, thanks for the info. Sorry bin a little slow on the replies, work has been cramping my style somewhat. Bit of work to do with this one me thinks.
