Gday guys, I have a GU tb45 which I’ve just put a 4” lift kit in and im running 36s. My question is.. I currently have 4.1 diff ratio.. I have been told I need to go to 4.6 ratio.. staying with 4.1 ratio for now, will that damage diff at all? Or is it more just an inconvenience ? Cheers appreciate your time boys! 😃👌🏻

Just an inconvenience as they say the 4.6 will bring it back to driving like it did with stockies... well as close to that as possible...

I ran 4.6s for a very long time till recently and have just gone down to 4.3s

Why? Cos i choose to drive my rig on stockies when its on daily duties and 4.3s drive better on the road than 4.6s as 4.6s revs were slightly too high....

4.3 is a good compromise for me in both scenarios

Different donks/drivetrains do make the diff ratio question quite confusing. As a general consensus 4.6s are very highway slow and agreed 4.3s are a good compromise.
In all honesty, reckon 4.1’s behind any decent ‘torquey’ donk would more than happy medium with transfer case ‘reduction gears’ for the slow careful gnarly LR stuff!

I have 4.3 running on 35 inch. I personally would love 4.1 . Probably better on fuel on the highway too.
