hi all, my 2007 patrol Transfer pump has blown / melted wires, going to replace with a different pump not factory as cost $$$ what would you recommend have been looking at a Goss one, Can I just plug one in and that's it or do I have to change anything as not Factory one?

Thanks

Dave

AFAIK a non-factory pump won't work with the factory wiring unless you use a resistor to impedance match the pump windings to fool the Sub Tank Computer.
Thats what I had to do on my '99 truck anyway.
The resistor will depend on the pump you choose so can't help with a value.

Other alternative is run a seperate switch and power circuit to a non-genuine pump

I believe The Evil Twin is on the money there mate.
My current 99 truck also when purchased second hand already had an aftermarket seperate switch/wiring/pump installed. (not sure which brand pump sorry).
On slightly later model GU’s I’ve had to replace expensive OEM pumps and also dust impacted dash switches so could be a good alternative if time permits.
You just won’t have automatic shut off when sub is empty or main full but a big red glowing switch and keeping an eye on tank guages isn’t too hard I find.
