Hi guys, I can't seem to download the service manual from here. I need to get a Carby back to standard settings which is fitted to my GQ.
Been having dramas with it. Symptoms are:
Idle all over the place. Idles high then drops down and sounds like a cammed rb30. With AC on it almost stalls and I have to keep giving it throttle to idle.
Smells quite fuely.
Backfired when shifting down gears.
Stalled coming into the servo.
When I turned it off a couple times it dieseled. As in key off and still spluttering for a second.
So if someone has the link to a service manual regarding carburetor settings that would be great. Have a 3 hour drive to make
on Sunday.
P.S
I will be converting to EFI and turbo in a few weeks. Just need this running properly until then.

Have a look on this page, it might help. It could the needle and seat getting stuck open and/ or shut. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?28517-RB30-Facts-Figures-and-Helpful-Hints&p=703286&viewfull=1#post703286

This thing has a mind of its own.
Cold start this morning, sat at 2000rpm and wouldn't drop. Wound the fuel mixture screw all the way in (it was 5 and a half turns out) and it didn't make a difference. AT ALL. Did not stall or anything, might as well have been turning screws on the rocker cover.
The engine just sat at 2000rpm.
What the heck is with this carby?
Each time I keyed off it would diesel for a second or so again.
Spewing because I was going to go bring the car to my old man 3 hours away, he was helping me with it before he got sick. He just got out of hospital, 4 long months recovering from a horrible bacterial infection and a bi lateral leg amputation.

You need to take the whole lot off and give it a proper service and clean. It doesn't sound like a setting is wrong it sounds like it's full of crud.
Pay particular attention to the jets and needle and seat. Never touched an rb carby but assume they're all the same principle. Your idle jet will be gummed up as will your needle and seat. You'll never get it running right while it's dirty.
Just be aware, there may be gaskets that need to be replaced if you open it.

I had a Fuel Miser Carby kit put into my carby. it was done by a dyno tune bloke who makes his living by setting up speedway vehicles. He dyno tuned the Patrol afterwards and the difference was absolutely amazing.

Hey fellas.
Just a quick one.
I bought a new carby for the GQ to cover me for the next month or so until I get the EFI conversion underway.
Everything bolts up fine etc, the wiring harness plug is different.
There is an extra BLACK wire in the plug, which won't plug into the existing plug on the GQ harness.
I was just going to repin the old plug with the new wiring harness.
Just wondering what the extra black wire is for it comes off the part pictured which is drivers side near the throttle linkage.
The new carby doesn't have that black wire.
