I just found an oil leak that is comming from the mount that you screw the oil filter onto (98 GU) ?? Is this something anyone else has experienced ?? I don't know if it is the gasket or a crack somewhere ?? The bolts seem tight. Any ideas ??

not sure what you mean but the filter might need another 1/4 turn or the o ring is squasHed out the side

No, neither of those things have happened. I just did an oil change and it was leaking before i changed the oil, i thought someone might have forgotton to put a smear of oil on the rubber seal before they fitted the filter but that is not the case. There is a mounting block/plate (whatever) that bolts to the engine block, the oil filter screws into it. It is leaking oil from A - the bolts B - the gasket or C - there is a crack somewhere ? I hope not. I'm starting to feel like buying this truck was a mistake.

It would be pretty rare to have a crack in the housing. It take considerable force to do that. I am not sure if the bolts on them go right through or if it is a close stud hole. Your best bet is to remove and clean it. If there is a crack you will need to replace it. Other wise some good Loctite gasket goo or a new gasket and some stud /bolt sealer on the bolts (Loctite 243) should do the trick.
All that said; I feel your pain, but believe me, after all the niggles are sorted out you are in a dam fine machine.

I am going to put it in the shop and let them have alook at it, it doesn't look like an easy job to get to. Thanks for the replies.
