Transfer pump on y61

Hi all had problems with sub tank and found out that my transfer pump wires have shorted and melted the plastic cover over the wires also connector looks slightly melted, short in pump, can I used a different pump and not use a factory one .? They seem to cost $$. Keep the same flow rate 1.5 lpm. Has anyone done this or do I have to use the factory one ?

I can't see why you couldn't. You'd just have to find one with the same or similar flow rate and then wire it in.

Rip out the factory one and just put a rotary vain lift pump instead
