Hi guys
Just had a nosy round the truck today and notice this oil reservoir looking rather empty. I'm assuming this is for the power steering but just want to check. Can you please also advise on the type of oil required. Does it need to be a specialized power steering oil or like your standard dot 4 oil?
Thanks in advance
Brett

Yes it is your Power Steering fluid reservoir, you can use any quality Automatic transmission fluid, but may i suggest you add some of this.........LUCAS (http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Lucas-Power-Steering-Stop-Leak-355ml.aspx?pid=10778#Description)
Its a great product (even if you dont have leaks)

May pay for you to check your power steering system for leaks, especially around the hoses and the pump front seal.

Turns out I do have a leak in my power steering, where it appears to housing join on by bolts. (Pics can be supplied if needed) is there something I need to worry about or is this normal. I'm not sure on the rate of how much oil I'm loosing yet but have just topped up and will monitor over the next few days. Looks like it has been leaking for a while.

Sorry I am not real sure what you mean, are you saving it is leaking from the pump housing or possible one of the banjo fittings where the hose connects to the pump?
It doesn't really matter just make sure the bolts are tight, wash the area down and keep on eye on it.
Leaks from hoses and the pump front seal are the ones you need to worry about.
Just keep an eye on the fluid level.
