Was speaking with a bloke about piloting on the weekend, he said they're looking for Pilots in Melbourne to go from Broadford to Geelong. Said everywhere in Vic is really short of drivers and people are coming in from interstate.

My young bloke is looking for work in Melbourne and is interested.

Anyone here a Pilot in Victoria specifically, but anywhere will do?

Got a few questions.

I am a qualified pilot/escort in Qld. This was mostly for assisting my family who had a transport business. I drove for them (both trucks and pilot vehicles) after I retired from paid employment to help them out as things are pretty tough in that business.
Escort work is VERY competitive with some operators undercutting just to get the work. Be very careful as the current peak in Vic is probably based on the one major job and you might ask why they are having trouble getting local qualified drivers. There has been quite a few truckies moving to that side of the game after getting fed up with the way authorities hammer the transport industry.
VicRoads has plenty of information on their website and there is a facebook page "Heavy Haulage Pilots & Escorts in Australia" which might be helpful.

Thanks Brissieboy, I appreciate the feeedback.

I will check out the Vic Roads & FB site. Good to know about the competitiveness of it, I can see how a young bloke new to it all may get ripped off.

Thanks again.
