View Full Version : 3 year build up - GQ 5.9 common rail Cummins 4l80e

My ride... It has been a mission to say the least.

The build sheet has gotten pretty long to get her going.

I started with a low mileage clean gq with a dusted tb42.
Had a brilliant idea when looking through eBay when I found an 03 Cummins out of a dodge ram, even had a shagged 4l80e box with it.
Sensors, injectors, radiators, new custom brackets, airdog fuel pump and filter, fully built 4l80e, drive shafts.... and lots more.
Always happy to discuss how and give advice on taking on A conversion like this.

78148 4l80e I had built with all the goodies - tci 300m input shaft, billet clutch hubs, max friction count, 36 element super spray, straight cut gears, valve body work etc. Good for 1500hp/1500ftlb

Still sorting a fueling issue that only sees fueling to 35psi of boost, I've got it narrowed to 4 possible causes. Still quicker than a 200 series so I'm not unhappy

78150 quick shifter... probably didn't need it but it looks the part and simplified the shifting linkages, only downside is the mechanical feel of shifting it takes some getting used to

Thanks mate, yeah spending has been a lot slower lately. I'm keen on a new cp3 injection pump, hoping to net 500+ at the treads, but I'm not in a rush to explode the crown and pinion

Quicker than a 200 is great.. Not super hard to do without going to all that trouble. The torque figures on that thing should be where it really shines though.. shouldn't it?

What are you expecting out of it when it's done?

Looks like it's been a big job. Thanks for sharing.

Should be around 500-600rwhp and 1000 to 1500ft/lb. I've got air for more HP there, but failures of the driveline will happen pretty quick
