Hi,

Had my car (2011 CRD manual 106k km - stock) serviced today and they picked up the intercooler had a very small leak in the windscreen passenger corner. He didn't seem too concerned, saying it needed to be changed at some point. I have noticed less performance with the car recently - less pickup. I'm keen to get it replaced sooner than later. Can anyone recommend someone Brisbane southside that can replace at a reasonable cost. I guess suggestions for replacement brand would be appreciated as well. I realise there are quite a few posts about this already. I plan to do more research but thought I'd also ask straight up too. I guess I should have asked my mechanic but didn't think to do it - I'll call them for help as well. Would be good for other opinions though. What all up cost do you think I'm looking at?

The car is stock. I have a provent 200 in a box ready to be installed. Also bought an ultragauge recently.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Mart

ps - not sure if this was the correct place to post this question

Hi Muffler,

Simple to replace, you won’t need a mechanic. Don’t get an original crimped Nissan model. Get a fully welded one, heaps around that bolt straight in. I got one from eBay, considerably larger and considerably cheaper than OEM.

Thanks Jack. I'd be happy to give it a go if I was confident of not messing something up - a man with a little bit of info is a dangerous one. I don't understand well enough how cars work at the moment. Learning slowly - mostly from forums like these and youtube.

Hi Muffler,

Sorry forgot about this post, it's really simple to replace - no experience required.
I had mine go under warranty and the local Nissan stealership tried to charge me nearly $3000 to replace it and the hoses. I replaced it myself with an aftermarket one, heaps around and a lot better and cheap than the original.

These guys do a reasonable one: https://www.forefrontindustries.com.au/gu-patrol

Just need a few metric sockets and screwdriver.
