Hey y’all, while looking for a cheap 4x4 I found a 1991 Safari Fire Truck on the cheap. Low miles, leaf springs all around, straight axles ands a big In-line six. Every thing I needed for less than my budget. Had no idea these things even existed but it looks rugged and I can’t wait to learn more about them. Now it time to take the fire truck out of the UTE! 77639

Thanks fellas, there’s a huge Japanese Direct Import collector nearby. It’s like a museum that’s partially for sale. This one has 3700km on the clock and purs like a kitten. It still has plastic on the back seats from the factory. Here’s the ID plate. Any help here is greatly appreciated! 77654

Here the website if anyone’s interested. www.duncanimports.com I have some manuals with it but it’s all in Japanese writing so not much help there.

Haha. I like the way you think! I just pulled up at my bro’s house and my nieces ask why the Ghostbusters car was here.

Welcome aboard from abroad Tradera mate!
Yep, we’ve got an identical 1988 (13,000km) one over here too. I managed to get in touch with GMC Japan years ago (firetruck modifiers/manufacturers of ours) and kindly received a translated operations manual. It’s a little hard to understand the translation but happy to forward you a copy if you’d like mate?
Cheers Mark

Man, that'd be a lifesaver. My buddy wants to hook the pumper up to his tractor to use it on his farm. Believe it or not, hard to find anyone speaking Japanese here in The Appalachian Mts...

Please do give me a reminder next week and I’ll scan it to either send to an email address of yours or try and work out how to post it up here.

Started tearing into the pumper bed today. Heavy stuff, hopefully the Safari will be a couple thousand pounds lighter tomorrow.

Got the pumper off finally! This thing rides like a logging truck without all the weight. Gonna get a bed from my buddy that’s parting out his rock buggy and then off to lighten those leaf springs up.

Don’t know what to think of the tray yet. It’s kinda growing on me though. May mount a couple of side open tool boxes under the fenders. Definitely going to set the rear axle back 10 or so inches and lift it an inch or four. What’d y’all think?
