Looking to buy a 2000 gu ute, advice?

Really want to get into 4wding and Ive been looking at patrols. Does anyone have any reasons why not to get one as a first car? I know people who own them and they seem great, just looking for advice from other people. Cheers!

As a 'first car' they will be fine provided you are ok with driving a bigger vehicle & can afford the higher running costs compared to a smaller 2wd car (or even a smaller 4wd). Fuel & servicing costs will be higher, & of course if you use it off road there will extra costs there too. If funds are limited & you need a daily driver it may not be the best option.
