Thinking it’s a front bearing any other thoughts of what this could be?

Whack a jack under the front axle, grab the top and bottom of the tyres and try to wobble them. If there is a vertical movement then adjust the bearing. Unfortunately the drive train in Patrols does make a quite a bit of noise. It could be anything from a worn unijoint to a stuck brake caliper or a stuffed suspension rubber or body mount. My hand brake would occasionally stick, which would make a metallic clang in the front left axle, of all places. You really need to try and isolate where the sound is coming from.

Not much to go by...
Does it do it under acceleration? Like going up a hill? Or under deceleration? Off the pedal. Turning left or right?
Need a bit more info.
If it’s a wheel bearing it would do it all the time too.

Front hub would be my first guess but really need more info mate

Are we looking at when locking in auto hubs?
Manual or Auto hubs?

Would be jacking up front axle, takes no time at all to rotate wheel (hubs disengaged), push wheel in and out at top, feel for smooth rotation and excessive play in bearings.

Start some where.

Right hub is bloody hard to move jacked it up and wobbled the tyre a little bit of in out movement, some of my body mounts are just about stuffed as well

Suggest you remove free wheeling hubs, you have not told us if they are manual or auto hubs. I am assuming they are manual?

IMO, remove free wheeling hubs, give them a clean and re grease, no solvent on o-rings (manual hubs).

Prior to hub removal: manual hubs put them in free position and if auto hubs put them in the locked position before removing retaining bolt and the hubs. Not sure of your skill set eg: familiarity of hub removal, remember witness mark component assy placement (manual hubs) before stripping down. Check for wear / cracks and operation. Re-grease.

Also remove wheel hubs, inspect the bearing, not sure if you want to replace bearing but if not and dust seals look OK, put grease in the hub and bearings (note if ABS fitted remove retaining bolt and sensor first from the swivel hub). Re-assemble adjust for wheel bearing pre-load, rotate wheel back and forth few times as adjusting, when happy lock up and reassemble all and try hubs on stand first. Basic advice see how you go mate.
