Hi all,
Recently had a new 3" Berklee exhaust fitted. The flange between the dump pipe and the middle section of the exhaust has a rattle, especially at idle.
Is it possible the shop over torqued the flange bolts, crushing the new gasket and causing this rattle?
-Definitely not a clearance issue and rubbers are fine.
Cheers

Take it back to the exhaust shop that fitted it. or was a bolt on kit .

Same exhaust here. Have a look at the bracket that connect 2nd section pipe to rear eng mount bracket at rear of gear box (transfer).. Maybe broken, occurs especially if brkt is under pressure resulting from misalignment at install and can fail due to vibration at brkt right angle bend. . Berklee replaced mine under warranty, easy to install (ring them direct). FYI, I have reused my gaskets half a dozen times over as I like to undo things..
Or could be the tail pipe section being too close to body (tow bar maybe), easy to fix(space it away with 1/2" garden hose on pin brkt and hose clamp)_..
Most likely be second pipe section brkt (if they won't cover by warranty, pull it off, weld it back together and gusset it at the bend(would not cost much to do if U have to spend)..

Sadly it was a bolt on kit

Thanks Bidja,
I do have that issue with the tail pipe hitting my rear bar, the garden hose / hose clamp idea is great I'll use that!
I'll go have a sniff around that bracket you refer to and let you know.

Yeah bolt on, but all flanged section joints use 4 corner thru hx hd bolt and nut fasteners (solid coupling). The design is not bad, but I got Berklee to make up two different flow rate muffler sections, as I was playing around with different exhaust sys back pressures. Have one of their stock muffler sections and muffler delete pipe left over now. Way it goes..lol

I decided to separate the flange last night to take a look and as it turns out, there was a 16mm socket in there that has made its way to the muffler.... Thanks for the freebie I guess?
Rattle be cured!!
