Hi all

Has anyone got an opinion on the Domin8r 409 Stainless steel 3 inch system.

Is it too good to be true at such a price?

Any info would be gr8.

Regards Rob Poynter.

Rob, Had one fitted (CRD) 18mths now all good so far (various road conditions). Only thing that went wrong (early on), was the angle bracket on second pipe section that fixes to the gearbox housing, failed due to misalignment at install (too much strain on brkt). Berklee (the manufacturer) sent a replacement out under warranty quick time and no problem since.

Have muffler and CAT fitted, is quiet cruising and under high load will get a healthy throaty sound with stock eng.

Had Berklee make me up a new muffler with 50% increased flow as I installed a high flow turbo and wanted less less exhaust gas flow restriction. Tried muffler delete but just so loud on trips with tow behind under load and IMO the ZD CRD requires a muffler of type to provide an adequate back pressure. Just have some spare bits now. Would buy an other one when needed as does the job and a good price.

DEA maybe one to look at as well. It is like shocks, you just cannot buy them all to try each out.

I just fitted one myself, I think it's great. Egts dropped by between 50°c and 100°c, motor is much more responsive and holds speed with much less effort.

Only problem I had, was the exhaust hit the rear of the chassis, I had my mechanic bend the pipe a little and now all is well.

I rate it highly.

I’ve heard that with a larger exhaust fitted you can get higher boost spikes? Boost gauge and Dawes valve will sort it I know but have you noticed any spikes

Users have reported boost spikes (ZDs), both with and without 3" exhaust. Shame that I did not have a boost gauge before installing 3" exhaust (would have been good to have the baseline data).

With 3" exhaust, no boost spikes for me as fitted boost gauge and full manual boost control at same time as 3" exhaust.

So doesn’t the extra boost alone lower egt’s? And more boost would make it feel more mowerful.

Yes, with higher boost/lower EGTs, but with stock ECU most likely get limp above 16.5 psi(CRD) and around 15 psi (DI), when hauling for greater length of time of say 10 seconds or so (with tow up hill). To confidently run max boost around 20-22psi requires ECU remap.

I run procharge stage 3 high flow turbo /CRD at 26psi. Good as.
