Hey guys, since replacing my head 2 weeks ago everything has been perfect iv done several decent drives including one last night about 65k’s towing a car on a trailer and the only thing I can fault is....
When I accelerate and get to around 10psi I get this squeak like crickets going crazy from the engine bay. A quick tap on the go pedal and a small boost spike and it goes away.
I used new gaskets for pretty much everything and torqued everything according to the workshop manual. Should I start by yanking the turbo back off and nipping all the bolts up a little more or is there some where better to look first?

A bit hard to guess at but maybe a small air leak somewhere. What about the manifold gasket leaking. I have read some strange descriptions of whistles and screeching noises on here that have turned out to be that. Otherwise Mortein I guess

Look around the intake manifold for any soot or oil
Look around the exhaust manifold for soot too
Also spray some wd40 or belt grip on the belts to test too.

Its not unheard of where the Exhaust manifold warps then you get exhaust leakage and will hear weird sounds. Some places have these manifolds on a change over basis, or you could take it to a machine shop and get it done.
Have you blocked the EGR at all? EGR pipe can split too. Check the small cast EGR pipe too that goes from the EGR valve to the intake manifold. Someone here had theres snap in half.

EGR is on vacation at the moment, I had a look this arvo and the sheet metal that is filling in for the EGR on the exhaust side looks to be leaking so might have a look at that tomorrow.

Depending on the thickness of the plate it could be vibrating like a saxophone reed...

That’s what I recon it might be, will bolt the crossover pipe back on when the weather permits and see how that goes

Yep, found the issue. Metal must have been too light of a gauge

Cheers mate, all good, it was only temporary until I replaced my oil pressure sender unit. All has been done and EGR is back in its usual place and fully inoperable [emoji23]
