Hi

Does anyone know of a cheap OEM alternator for the TB42 carb from another vehicle that fits?
I found the following item which under cross reference appears compatible with various vehicles such as Nissan Maxima etc. Got me thinking an alternator off one of the cross reference vehicles might plug and play after swapping pulleys.
I'm not sure if the above listing is for TB42 E or S or even if there is a difference?
The auto electrician will only sell me a new item which is a bit $$$.

S is for carby, E is Electronic fuel injection. There's a great difference in the quality of alternators available. If you are just offloading the vehicle then cheap ebay alternators are the go. If you are planning to keep the vehicle, pay for a good unit. Patrolapart also sell alternators. I bought locally, which gives me piece of mind regarding warranty.

My current alternator is LR150-218.
I don't see the point in spending $300 for a new item when a low K one is available at the wreckers with a pulley swap and still cheaper and probably better quality than the eBay Chinese items.

Does the alternator differ between the S/E engines?
