Gents, just trying to work out what else Winnie would need if he bought a TD42T or Ti block to put into his GQ.
Yes I did it but have a memory like a fish!!!
Water pump I think is same but the cover for the injector pump gear on timing case is different.
Block off Vac pump on timing case
Mount for the power steering pump
Tacho sensor spacer if TI
Rear main seal
Flywheel
New lines for turbo, oil feed and drain.
Alternator oil feed and drain (I think I had to replace one of them from the GQ set up)
Exhaust manifold studs, may as well.
Engine mounts (just for Winnies situation)
Gaskets, glue, etc etc

You'll need lifters as they're smaller in a silver top.
I have a bare T block, . I have no vac pump though
Just buy a motor that has good compression and send it

I put a TI motor in mine,
Removed and blocked the EGR with a kit from performance 4x4 Queensland
Drivers engine mount is different if using the TI pump
Had to use GQ oil pressure switch
I’ve fitted a GQ tacho sensor with a spacer (GQ sensor is longer)
Used GQ loom, had the GU loom to steal plugs if I needed
I’m using the vacuum pump on the timing cover and a GU alternator
My motor came with the turbo flywheel
Everything else was bolt up

Yeah pretty much just wanting to get a grip on what little things will pop up. Would love to be able to install and start up all in a weekend.

Why not throw in one of those bullet proof 3.0L di motors. I've heard good things about them [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]
On a serious note if I'm available I'm more than happy to come help out.

Would be great to get the flywheel with the motor and the PS bracket would be a winner too. Id think you could negotiate that into the deal

Think you should just put in a TB4.2, I know of a good motor going for cheap in Sydney, ya just need 2 get the spark plug out :animierte-smil

Are we going to be able to use my clutch? Mine is fairly new and I would like to use it in the new engine but have read some conflicting info on the internet.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI have read that the bolt pattern is different. Some people say that you can use a GQ clutch on the GU motor but not a GU clutch on a GQ motor.

The sandwich plate on the turbo motor is different, it has a bigger hole for the bigger crank.
I can either buy a new one or grind out the hole to the larger size.
Does anybody know the measurement for the hole to fit the bigger crank?
