View Full Version : Help - Water leaking 4.5 rear of firewall

Hi Guys, my old girl is leaking water bad near firewall heater hoses, but can't see where it coming from due to the 4.5 engine bay . water is streaming out under engine power, My son doesn't think its the small heater hoses . look on pdf gu manual, no diagrams whats their. any ideas or photo's guys what i'm looking for regards Alex

Hi 3dogs ,can't see due to firewall , is there a welch plug at the back off block near firewall regards Alex

Hi Guys, Maybe found leak at back of block near fire wall, it looks like a Welsh plug as can see from video. Maybe ????

What's the story? Welch plug, garden hose left on under bonnet, fire suppression device????? Hope its not a major for you to resolve.

The water is not coloured like coolant should be. I take it you just top it up with plain old water? Anyhow a leak that bad looks like a welch plug to me.

Hi Mudski, Coolant gone long ago. I had the water hose topping up the radiatar and it was coming out the hole. Can you tell me is there ment to be a welsh plug at the end off block . Can't find any diagrams on this area. cheers Alex

Not sure myself mate but I assume there would be. Use a little mirror and check. Is it from the block or head you think?

Hi All, the Welsh plug problem is finally fix, The Mechanic pulled out gearbox box to get to the firewall welch plug, while he was there he replaced 2 more where the Flywheel is in which it was a good call, Happy days

I per ordered the welch plugs from the web site that Mudski web give me, but the Mechanic did use them as they where metal ones and he I put Bass ones insted . No corrotion . Hmmm why are their selling metal in the first place regards Alex
