Hey guys, after years of owning and modifying some pretty tuff jap imports, lost my licence and during that time been doing a lot of fishing and camping with mates, so i decided to get a 4x4 as a next car, as that is more suited to my lifestyle these days. 3mths till i get my licence back, so been on the hunt for something, during the week i picked up this GQ. :Yahoo!:Has all the usual gear in it, body is a bit ruff, but the sus and driveline is soild, it has the 4.2 petrol, running duel fuel. Plan to add a whole heap of mods, so plenty of time on the spanners for me. First job will be tidy up the body a bit, Just need to figure out where to start..... :p

I am most of the Adelaide guys would reconise the truck, as it has seen ALOT of action over the years.

Anyway enough dribble, here is a couple of pics of what i am starting with...

Welcome to the forum Softy.

Your first modification should be to remove the sticker on the back step!
And may I suggest selling the Jeep to help finance the project!

Over the last month or so been doing bits and pieces.

Since last post, installed the pertronix and it runs like it just rolled off the showroom floor, Got a SAAS steering wheel, Painted my bullbar as the paint had worn/faded that bad you could see the undercoat. picked up a duel battery kit last week and fitted that today, RedArc isolator and a Thumper Redback 100ah battery, got my fridge in the back today also and wired it up.

Gave it a service today, and picked up a towbar earlier as it doesn't have one currently. Been a busy day, but glad to see some progress finally happening.

Long weekend next weekend so have to do a few more bits, but i will have it ready for its maiden voyage away, to go smash thru some big dunes!!

Wen't to Goolwa beach 2 weeks ago to pop my 4x4 cherry, car ran perfect and powered thru the sand, i was a happy chappy.

Now for a couple of pics.

Painted Bullbar. $2 rattle can special.

Couple of pics of it down at Goolwa. First time i have locked the hubs and gave it some curry!

Well i am back... The old GQ ended up being flogged off cheap after i run it into the ground...

58215

Then i cruised around in a Liberty for almost a year till the 4x4 got the better of me! Introducing the new ride!

2003 GUIII Grenade, Auto with 140,000km Mint conditon inside and out.. It's going to be a shame to scratch and smash it up over time!!

Pretty boring for now.... it was 100% standard when i got it... now has a Light Bar, Pillar Pod, Boost Gauge. I have DAWES and EGR block waiting to go in when i get off my arse.. next thing to buy is a matching EGT gauge.. Then it's time to play once i can monitor everything properly!!

Muddies, Lift and all of that gear will be coming as soon as funds allow! I still have a bit of gear left from my GQ, Engel etc.. So things like that i wont have to buy all over again!

Nothing much to report... It went for it's first test on the weekend on the beach down at Goolwa (Murray Mouth)

There are some BIG hills there and back and i wont lie, i was scared it would grenade.. But i just manned up and hammered it hard up the hills, it loved it i can't believe how hard it pulls for a 4 cyl. ;) Feeling alot better about buy it now.. Not so scared when the boost gauge fluctuates 1psi around town thinking it's game over lol.
