View Full Version : Using a TD42ti pump in a GQ (wiring question)

I have just fitted an 06 TD42ti motor into my GQ and just curious if anyone has a work around for the TCV on the pump and tacho sensor?

I don’t have the factory ECU, using a GQ loom, have read about using a Hobbs switch to “trick” the TCV and using a spacer on a GQ tacho sensor but can’t find any real information about either.

I will eventually be replacing the pump with a full mechanical pump but not flush with cash either so looking for a temporary work around, thanks in advance....

I can't help with the pump but yep I had to put a spacer on the sensor and it worked fine.

Below 800rpm though the needle flutters a bit.

Called patrolapart this morning, they don’t have the spacers so I made my own!

Now have a working tacho, just need to sort out the TCV wiring now

Nice one!

Does yours flutter or drop under 1000rpm?

Hey Reddave,

how did you go with the Ti pump and the hobbs switch.

I'm trying to put the Ti pump onto my silvertop.

Cheers

Got your injector lines around the right way? Even if the tcv wasn't working it shouldn't rattle and miss. Injector lines or totally wrong timing is my bet there.

It will rattle if the TCV is working properly but shouldn’t miss at all

I’ll have to try and find my wiring diagrams I had, I have since gone a bigger pump so it’s been a while
